Standards are you really improving the breed? Do you have a copy of our AKC approved Breed Standard and have you studied it? As you go over the standard, are you keeping inmind that it is a goal to beworked for? Do you have a copy of our AKC approved Breed Standard and have you studied it? As you go over the standard, are you keeping inmind that it is a goal to beworked for? None of our dogsare perfect, but we should bebreeding to meet the standard as closely as we can. Al though our standard does not set down the exact desired height and weight for the dog or bitch, wes hould keep in mind the capabilities of the breed and that they are mostly family dogs now. If your goal is to produce extra heavy dogs, large or small, remember we have an AmericanStaffordshire Terrier, not a Mastiff, Bullmastiff or Staffordshire Bull Terrier. If we don’t study pedigrees for faults, color, pigment and health problems, we are going to breed our selves out of existence. Our dogs have, in the past, been admired for their stamina, resistance to disease and allergie sand their beauty.
